“Amici di Casa Mihiri Onlus” (Friends of Casa Mihiri Onlus) is an association from Rovereto Tn, Italy. The association has committed to the disclosure of the work of Lorenzo Bacci, founding partner of Casa Mihiri. This work is carried out in Walahanduwa, Galle, Sri Lanka: a special project of assistance and schooling.

In recent years, the association has begun both planning and educational developmental initiatives, as well as training and support for the girls that have been welcomed into the home of Mihiri Gedere. These initiatives have been aimed mainly at education in order to allow their true emancipation as a hope for a better future. The weakest elements of the population have been welcomed: orphaned girls and boys with family problems. Approximately 20 girls, aged from 6 to 18 years old, who are guests in the family home and regularly attend public schools, can reside there indefinitely or until their emotional and physical recovery is complete.

We support Casa Mihiri, a family home for girls, in Galle, Sri Lanka.

The Results

Casa Mihiri has been open since 2004 and there have been many achievements made during that time. The girls that we welcomed have had their problems solved and have been able to return to their families or, upon reaching adulthood, have been able to form family units of their own.

It always makes us proud that, when grown up, the girls come back to visit us with their husbands and children, or just to tell us how their lives have evolved.

We would like to thank all of you who are helping us to continue on our adventure.

Nothing will be retained as expenses and all the money that arrives in favour of the projects submitted will be sent directly to the headquarters in Sri Lanka and used in its entirety for the realisation of the projects themselves.
